Hayward TigerShark

With our new home came a pool for us to learn how to take care of.  Being from Colorado, this is not something I am familiar with at all, so it can seem a bit daunting!  I received a TigerShark from Hayward to help us take care of the pool and I am so far beyond impressed!  If you are not familiar with Hayward, they make all sorts of products for pools, vacuums, filters, etc, as well as robotic pool cleaners, such as the TigerShark.

  The Home Depot's Kids Workshops offer useful projects including the creation of toolboxes, fire trucks and mail organizers, as well as more educational projects, such as a window birdhouse, bughouse or Declaration of Independence frame kit.

The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

Not So Blonde Brownies

Featuring Nielsen-Massey Vanilla

Not So Blonde Brownies

1 ¼ cups unbleached all-purpose flour

¼ cup unsweetened cocoa

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened

½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract

3 eggs

½ teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Pure Chocolate Extract

2 tablespoons Kahlúa

1 cup coarsely shopped white chocolate

¾ cup coarsely chopped nuts of choice (optional)

 

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Sift the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt together. Set aside.
