We're "Nuts for Dad"

Easy, Last Minute Father's Day Gift

By Melissa Hucal June 19, 2015
Father’s Day is this Sunday, but don’t worry. If you’re still looking for a gift that you can give to Dad, we’ve got a solution that doesn’t cost much, is easy to assemble and is fun to both give and receive.

Let Dad know how you feel about him with a “Nuts for Dad” jar.

You’ll need:
  • A clean, glass jar (we used a gravy jar that we removed the label from and washed/dried thoroughly
  • Paint & paintbrush (any color – this is for the jar lid)
  • Letter stickers (any style and color in a size that is proportional to the jar you are using)
  • Nuts – cashews, peanuts, mixed nuts … whatever Dad would like to fill his jar!
The steps:
  1. If necessary, clean your jar well and remove any labels.
  2. Paint the lid of the jar in the color of your choice. This is mostly necessary if you are recycling a jar from a kitchen product. Otherwise Dad might think he’s getting spaghetti sauce! Let the lid dry completely.
  3. With your stickers, spell our “Nuts for Dad” on the front of the jar. We used the number “4”instead of the letters just to make it a little more fun.
  4. Fill the jar with a variety of nuts.
Present the gift to Dad to let him know how crazy you are about him!

(Note: This gift could easily be customized for Grandpa, Uncle or any other father figure. Simply change the name on the front of the jar.)
