BRICKS 4 KIDZ® camps of Hunterdon and Somerset are a high-energy, fast-paced setting where kids discover, explore, invent and create. The extended hours of a day camp provides a child the opportunity to take a simple model, add their own imagination, and test the limits of their creativity. Whether building specific Bricks 4 Kidz® motorized models and then modifying them or building during free play, the campers will have a great time. In addition to lots of building with LEGO®s our themed camps include games, challenges, role playing, car ramp races and zip line racing. Here are the camp themes we will be offering in 2016:
Amusement Park Adventure – Campers will build various motorized models based on amusement park rides, learn the physics involved, play carnival games and end the week with the group designing and building one large amusement park from LEGO®. Ages 6 - 12
Animal Grossology- Learn interesting and somewhat gross facts about various animals while building motorized animal models. They include some of Bricks 4 Kidz most interesting model designs that that replicate the animals actual movements. Ages 7 - 12
Bricks 4 Girlz- LEGO® is not just for boys. But this camp is just for girls. The camp includes models and building based on LEGO’s Friends™ theme. In addition, there will be jewelry making, brick art and origami, with a take-home project each day. Ages 6 -10
Introduction to Robotics- Using the Mindstorm® EV3 platform, the camp is designed to introduce the world of robotics. Campers will build robots and learn how program them to do simple tasks. There are daily challenges and the week ends with a friendly “Battle of the Bots”. Ages 9 – 12. Maximum 14 campers.
Jurassic Brick Land (New for 2016!) – A week of learning about and building dinosaurs from the Jurassic period. The models include motorized and non- motorized dinosaur models. The camp will celebrate the Jurassic Park™ movies with crafts, games and free play. Ages 6 -11.
Mining and Crafting featuring Minecraft®- This camp merges the virtual world of Minecraft® with hands on activities building with LEGO®. Play the game on our server, build the characters from the game with LEGO® and play various group games based on Minecraft®. The ideal camp for those who love Minecraft® and LEGO®. Ages 6 - 12
Model Design 101- This camp will explore the creative process of model design where the campers will learn to use gears and LEGO elements to create different movement. The campers will create their own animal, machine and vehicle motorized models. Ages 9 – 12.
A PIRATE’S QUEST - The pirates have landed as we explore the popular culture behind the life a 16th and 17th century pirates with LEGO® bricks. Plenty of building pirate themed models, playing pirate games, a dress like a pirate day. And if you’re not careful, you may end up walking the plank. Ages 6 -9
Space Adventure featuring NASA & STAR WARS® - Blast off with a camp that combines learning about real space exploration with models inspired by NASA as well as models, games and crafts based on Star Wars™. Ages 6 - 12
Stop Motion Video- Learn how to make a stop motion video using FRAMES® software, LEGO® mini-figures and bricks. A week of fun, creativity, problem solving and learning resulting in your own stop motion video. Maximum 14 campers. Ages 9 - 12
