As much as we don’t want to face it, the new school semester is right around the corner and in order to start off the year just right, you’re going to have to be organized. Take wisecracking pre-teen Greg Heffley in the upcoming family release

Diary of a Wimpy Kid which arrives on Blu-ray Disc/DVD Combo Pack and DVD August 3. He’s looking to start his news school year off surviving the scariest time of anyone's life... middle school. Convinced it's the "dumbest idea ever invented," Heffley considers junior high school a place rigged with hundreds of social landmines, not the least of which are wedgies, swirlies, bullies, lunchtime banishment of the cafeteria floor and a festering piece of cheese with nuclear cooties that he must overcome to become popular. His diary - or "journal" - chronicles his thoughts, tales of family trials and tribulations, and (would be) schoolyard triumphs. However what’s his key check list for getting through it all? Follow our helpful list to ensure you have a stressful return to school.

Backpack

Stand out from the crowd in a funky new backpack. Whatever your style make sure you pick somethingcomfortable and that will fit all your books in.

Cool school shoes

Be the talk of the school with your trendy DM’s or cool converse. Depending on your schools dress code, shoes are a perfect way to show off your own unique style.

Stationary

Make sure you stock up on plenty of pens, pencils and highlighters in a variety of different colours.  Other stationary to consider includes: erasers, sharpeners, a glue stick, a ruler, a protractor and a good compass.

Pencil case

You’re going to need something to put all your shiny new pens in. There are loads of different styles to choose from or you could get creative and customize your own with funky stickers and drawings.

Trapper keeper

Keep all your papers organized and easy to find with a trapper keeper binder. Choose one with different sections to keep your subjects separate from one another.

USB pen

Once you get a USB you won’t be able to live without it. You can save all your work on one tiny little pen and with designs that can hand around your neck or clip on to your backpack you don’t have to worry about losing it.

Lunchbox

Whatever your style there is a lunchbox out there for everyone.  Now the fun part of picking the exciting foods to fill it!

Notebooks and Planners

Good idea to have a couple of different sized notebooks for taking notes during classes. You may also want to get a planner to help organize your homework and after school activities. Many of these have built in timetables which are great for telling you where you’ve got to be.

Pocket dictionary

These useful little things fit perfectly in your backpack and are great for checking up words you don’t understand or know how to spell. Older kids might want to invest in a pocket thesaurus too.
