Well, by now you know that I love Broadway shows, as does the rest of my family. So we were thrilled to have the opportunity to go see Elf at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City this week.
Based on the movie of the same name, Elf follows the journey of Buddy the Elf, a human raised by elves in the North Pole. Not quite the same as the elves, he discovers he had an unusual story and ended up in the North Pole by mistake. He finds himself on a quest to find his real father, a workaholic children's book publisher, who is on the naughty list in New York City.
This musical was a blast to watch and so much more than I expected to see. Lots of fun and laughs, great music to put you in the mood for Christmas, this adaptation was enjoyed by every member of our family. My kids can't stop singing the songs, which I love to hear.
The cast was fantastic, and Santa is quite a familiar face being played by Wayne Knight of Seinfeld fame, although my kids instantly recognized his voice from Toy Story 2! This is a must see for your family this holiday season that will bring back some magic of when you believed.
I love that this beloved Christmas tale has been brought to Broadway for all to enjoy this holiday season. Elf is playing a limited engagment until January 6, 2013. To purchase tickets, visit Elf the Musical's website.
