I can tell you it is super fun, scary in a startling but very fun way, very creative and festive. Run by local volunteers, you might even catch a peak at a football coach or neighbor inside the haunted mill! This year, some significant changes were made to how the haunted attraction is divided, and I have to tell you, I really like the changes! Divided into three sections, the beginning finds you within the village, where you have to work your way back through a labryinth. We love the special effects, the attention to detail is fantastic, and you might even find yourself walking through a spinning vortex this year! Once you have survived that aspect of the haunted village, you then get to go for a very spooky hay ride. We love this, as you never know who you will find yourself facing! Towards the end, you actually end up inside the old red mill (which in and of itself is pretty creepy!).
Once you are done, pick up a cup of hot chocolate to warm up your body after all the chills and thrills you have experienced! My kids are already planning additional trips this year, so be sure to go and visit this weekend while it's still here!
Frequently imitated, but never duplicated, the Haunted Village is a "MUST SEE". With an original theme every year, a cast of over 50 live actors and state-of-the-art sound and visual effects, this attraction is not for the faint-hearted, and is not intended for young children. Don't miss the disorienting, spinning hallway known as "The Vortex".
The 26th annual Haunted Village will take place at the historic Red Mill Museum Village in Clinton, New Jersey. Performances are scheduled for 6 nights: October 14, 15, 21, 22, and 28, 29. As there are special outdoor lighting effects, it is critical the show not begin until after dark, approximately 7pm.
