An exciting new outdoor event will take place this Sunday, April 14 (rain date: 4/21) from 11 am to 4 pm. All are invited to immerse themselves in a vibrant world of local art and artisans and experience what is sure to be a “Sunday Funday” in Historic Downtown Clinton. Art in Bloom will “…show off our vibrant community; one that boasts wonderful, one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants, while also celebrating the talent of local artisans. It’s always a pleasure for me to introduce folks to the 'Other side of New Jersey' and extend a warm welcome to guests from every corner of New Jersey and beyond, " says Mayor Janice Kovach.
Attractions will stretch from the Red Mill Museum Village, past the Hunterdon Art Museum, along Lower Center, Main, and East Main Streets to the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department transforming the entire downtown area into one open-air village representing a spirited community of neighbors, shop and restaurant owners, artisan makers; fine, graphic, and performing artists, all of whom contribute to the village’s quaint vibe. The festival “bloomed” out of a conversation where Fourchette shop-owner and resident Meredith Hyland shared her idea of staging an event to celebrate the beauty of the downtown; its cherry blossom-lined streets, the pony-truss bridge and the Clinton Falls during a car ride with some local friends. In the ensuing weeks and months, the organizing committee contrived an event that would draw on the assets and talents of the town, and with the help of Marketspace Vendor Events, attracted a diverse mix of artisan crafters who wanted to take part.
In addition to the shopping, the day is packed with other activities that are sure to please. “There is so much talent here! We have everything from ambient acoustic guitar players to some hard-hitting rock and roll. From Grateful Dead and Elvis tributes to Rockabilly; from an educational seminar on native bees from the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Hunterdon County to “Meet and Greet with Mark and Mark from Weird NJ” …there really is something for everyone!” according to Amy DeVita, committee member and Realtor with Stonybrook Realty. There will even be a Pup Parade that begins at the Fire Department at 1:00 and ends at the front of the Red Mill.
Free parking will be available at the municipal lots and at Unity Bank (64 Old Highway 22) with a free shuttle running on a loop. The Red Mill Museum Village will offer free admission to see bands and a presentation from Rutgers Master Gardeners; a beer & wine garden (all proceeds benefit the Red Mill). The Clinton Volunteer Fire Department will be serving up food from their grill and hosting a beer & wine garden (proceeds benefit the VFD) with another performance area.
