Winter fairy fun at The Watershed Institute

A magical event for young children

March 12, 2025

Earlier this month, The Watershed Institute — a 950-acre reserve with the goal of preserving NJ land and water so it continues to provide healthy habitats for many generations to come — located just off Rt 31in Pennington, held the cutest winter fairy festival on their beautiful grounds. The thoughtful indoor and outdoor activities kept my toddlers engaged. We learned about the local flora and fauna and little critters that can be found around our area. Cute crafts, face painting, story time, a fairy hunt, obstacle courses, and more kept us busy for almost two hours! We got to take home our crafted pinecone fairy (come on, how cute is that!), a small prize, and lots of great memories. (It was also the first time my 1-year-old was walking around and exploring!)

The Watershed Institute hosts festivals like this throughout the year, and our family loves attending them. They host summer camps for kindergarten and above, morning preschool sessions throughout the year, local learnings for kids and adults, and so much more. They’re open year-round, and their indoor and outdoor spaces are perfect for young children to learn and explore.

Hope to see you at their butterfly festival this summer! 🦋✨
