A marathon of musicals light up the Centenary Little Theatre this June as the Centenary Stage Company presents the Young Performers Workshop SPRING FESTIVAL OF SHOWS, featuring the legendary Broadway musical CATS along with the hit musicals CABARET, BYE BYE BIRDIE, and THE ACT. Performances run from June 1-June 10 in the Centenary Little Theatre on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ.   The YPW Spring Festival features more than 80 young performers, ages 8 – 18, from Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset and Sussex Counties.

Tuesday, May 15 - Children's Programs

Story Time for three-to-five year olds is held every Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the meeting room. The children, and the parents or care-givers who choose to stay, are entertained mainly by picture books, but with some poetry, scissor stories, or drawn stories mixed in. A craft related to the weekly theme completes the session, which generally runs a little longer than a half hour.

Saturday, June 2 - Kids Workshop

  The Home Depot's Kids Workshops offer useful projects including the creation of toolboxes, fire trucks and mail organizers, as well as more educational projects, such as a window birdhouse, bughouse or Declaration of Independence frame kit.

The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

Summer Fun

Select bowling centers and schools around the country are participating in the “Kids Bowl Free” program. This program is designed by bowling centers to give back to the community and provide a safe, secure, and fun way for kids to spend time this summer.

The 2nd Annual Box City is being “constructed” right now.  This is a very unique event and exciting fundraiser for Family Promise of Hunterdon County, Inc. (incorporating Interfaith Hospitality Network of Hunterdon County).  Box City is a fundraiser where participants raise pledges to become a Citizen of Box City and then sleep in a box overnight to raise money and awareness for homelessness in our own county.  The event will be held at Hunterdon Central High School starting at 6pm on Saturday June 2nd and concluding on Sunday June 3rd ...

Terracotta Warriors

Our family is fascinated with history, so we naturally love to do things to learn more about it.  This past weekend, we went to New York City and got to explore the new exhibit at Discovery Times Square, Terracotta Warriors.

I am not familiar with Chinese history, but quickly learned so much at this exhibition.  After a 1970's discovery in China, lifesize terracotta sculptures were unearthed, which led to the incredible discovery of the entire tomb of China's first emperor, dating back to 221 BC.  It was fascinating ...
