Big Apple Circus Metamorphosis

Hurry, hurry! — Fly away to the magical ring, to the circus — to the Big Apple Circus! — where an All-New Show — METAMORPHOSIS — with astonishing acts and startling transformations will transport you to a realm of enchantment under the Big Top! For its 37th Season, Big Apple Circus soars on wings of artifice and illusion, to a dreamscape domain where no one sits more than 50 feet from the ring, and nothing is impossible! Big Apple Circus presents the New Jersey premiere of METAMORPHOSIS in its annual Bridgewater engagement at TD Bank Ballpark from Thursday, February 26 through Sunday, March 15, 2015. 

Appearing before your very eyes: The thrilling flyers of the trapeze, swooping and swirling through circus skies! The razzle-dazzle of the rolla-bolla, an act that teeters right on the edge of equilibrium! The dynamo of the diabolo, the whirling double–tops of the Big Top! An aerial space-age acrobatic adventure — an ascent to amazement! The risky rhythms of the Risley team, twisting and turning, topsy-turvy! The cadenzas of camels and horses, and the exuberance of playful pooches, out to dazzle with delight! The cunning conjurors of the quick-change act, defying belief and inspiring awe! The incredible flexible limbs of the contortionist in an act that will literally bend your imagination! And Francesco the Clown, captivating the crowd with his musical merriment and gentle humor. Under the direction of maestro Rob Slowik, the renowned Big Apple Circus Band provides as always the live and glorious tunes of the sawdust spectacular. And finally, our irrepressible, magnificent Ringmaster, the illustrious and incomparable John Kennedy Kane will summon the spirits of the circus universe to immerse you in the wonder, the joy and the astounding magic of METAMORPHOSIS!

✯  From Russia, Vladimir and Olga Smirnov challenge you to keep up as they change from one outrageously spectacular costume to another in just the blink of an eye! 
✯  From the US, Jenny Vidbel guides her beloved animal friends — ponies, puppies and more — through astonishing tricks that’ll have the audience cheering! 
✯  From Russia, the Aniskin Troupe transports the audience to new heights, showcasing some of the best twists and turns of the century on their trampoline and flying trapeze! 
✯  From the US, the Anastasini Family show off their slick skills with diabolo (“Chinese yoyos”), Risley (foot juggling — each other!), and an aerial space act that will leave you bedazzled and beguiled! 
✯  From France, Francesco the Clown brings joy and laughter to children and adults alike as he transforms reality into dreams! 
✯  From the US and Mongolia, Tatevik Seyranyan and Odbayasakh Dorjoo swivel and bend with amazing flexibility in a contortion act sure to boggle the mind — and watch Tatevik elude the laws of gravity in a breath-taking balancing act! 

Returning to Big Apple Circus as director for a second season, West Hyler presents an extraordinary show to entertain audiences of all ages. Antoinette DiPietropolo makes her Big Apple Circus debut as choreographer to entrance the audience with magical steps and spins. Also returning is Tony Award-winning set designer Todd Rosenthal, who helps bring the acts to life with his mesmerizing mise-en-scène. Adding to her versatile career, Mirena Rada returns to the Big Apple Circus and adds flouncy flair as costume designer. Big Apple Circus welcomes back Howell Binkley as the lighting designer who gives the show its energetic sparkle. Seven-time winner of the MAC Award, JP Perreaux returns to the circus as sound designer. And Big Apple Circus is ecstatic to introduce Jim Steinmeyer to the team as illusion designer to add a little magic to this masterpiece. Contributing musical compositions and arrangements is Jack Herrick, artistic director of The Red Clay Ramblers, and to top it off, the Big Apple Circus Band shines under the brilliant musical direction of its trumpet virtuoso, the matchless maestro Rob Slowik.

Performances of METAMORPHOSIS begin Thursday, February 26 and run for 28 shows through Sunday, March 15, under the Big Top at TD Bank Ballpark, home of the Somerset Patriots (1 Patriots Park, off Route 287 in Bridgewater, NJ), the third stop on the Big Apple Circus tour, following its world premiere engagement in the Washington DC metro area and annual season at Lincoln Center, NYC.

The Circus Box Office opens February 25 in front of the Big Top; hours are: Wed–Fri: 10 AM–8 PM, Sat–Tues: 10 AM–6 PM (open to 8 PM on Saturday, March 7). There are no service charges for tickets bought at the Box Office. The Big Top is heated in cold weather for all–season comfort! The show runs for 2 hours, including a 15 minute intermission.
